A concert where the audience retraces the band’s entire musical journey from the historic “Rings of Earthly Light” from 1991 to today with the performance of their new album “Puer Aeternus,” a journey through over 30 years of progressive rock, presented in a new and contemporary sonic guise.

Ancient Veil‘s origins date back to 1984, when Alessandro Serri and Edmondo Romano founded Eris Pluvia, a band that fused ancient and modern progressive rock sounds with folk and Canterbury influences. In 1991, they released their debut album, Rings of Earthly Light, one of the most acclaimed progressive rock albums of the time, destined to become a true cult classic among fans.

After leaving the band in 1992, Romano and Serri, assisted by Fabio Serri, created the project Ancient Veil and released the self-titled album in 1995. A long hiatus followed, lasting over twenty years, during which the two musicians pursued separate projects.

In 2017, Ancient Veil returned with their new album, I Am Changing, released by Lizard Records.

The atmospheres so dear to Romano and Serri returned in a new chapter, and within a few months, they garnered rave reviews from the most important international progressive rock publications.

In February 2018, New – The Ancient Veil remastered was released, a reissue of the CD of the self-titled album produced in 1995 by Mellow Records, re-released in a new version.

On May 9, 2018, a live CD recorded during two concerts held in 2017 at “La Claque” in Genoa will be released, Rings of earthly… Live, an album that retraces the band’s thirty-year career, performing live some songs that have become part of the history of Italian new progressive from 1991 to today. The CD is produced by Lizard Records in collaboration with Black Widow Records.

In 2019, 1991/1995 Rings of earthly light and other songs will be released, a new remastered version of the first album by Alessandro Serri and Edmondo Romano as Eris Pluvia, with a new mix and new mastering, plus three songs from “The ancient veil“ presented in a new guise and two unreleased songs composed in 1994.

Ancient Veil’s new album, Unplugged Live, was released in October 2020. After receiving numerous accolades for their previous album, “Rings of Earthly… Live,” the band decided to complete this live journey with a new album, which primarily features Ancient Veil‘s acoustic performances recorded live at “La Casa di Alex” in Milan over the past year.

You’ll Become Rain” was released shortly before the live single. This is a 1991 composition written by Serri and Romano during their time with Eris Pluvia that had never been recorded.

In 2022, Ancient Veil began their collaboration with Ma.Ra.Cash. Records, with the creation of an acoustic trio arrangement (Alessandro Serri, Edmondo Romano, and Fabio Serri) of the song “I believe in you” for a double CD tribute to John Wetton, entitled Celebrating the dragon.

On November 10, 2023, Puer Aeternus (Ma.Ra.Cash. Records) was released, a decidedly prog album with experimental, acoustic openings, but it’s also an opera, a theater, a story, a music for images and emotions, where Ancient Veil‘s trademark acoustic instruments resonate in the foreground. The palette is enriched by a present string quartet and a full-bodied wind section made up of clarinet, oboe, bassoon, and French horn, almost creating a small orchestra, and with numerous guests such as Lino Vairetti of Osanna, Roberto Tiranti of New Trolls, Tony Cicco of Formula 3, Sophya Baccini, Simona Fasano, and Elisa Marangon.

The album was recognized by the Italian and international press as one of the best albums of 2023.

The oil paintings on the covers of Ancient Veil‘s albums, as well as those inside the booklets, are all created by the painter Francesca Ghizzardi, a distinguishing feature of all the band’s works.
